 For those of you practicing cyberfunded creativity, what are your current projects? How can interested people get involved?

Some thoughts on my latest efforts at crowdfunding that I thought others might benefit from.

On Daron's Guitar Chronicles, I participated in Web Serial Writing Month, which is like NaNoWriMo except for web serials and each serial sets their own goals. It's organized by the folks at the EpiGuide, and being a part of it definitely brought in a handful of new readers.

What it definitely did, though, was energize my current readers. During WeSeWriMo I posted three times a week instead of two, and sometimes even posted four times as a result of donations bonuses. (Every time the tip jar hits $25, I post an extra chapter.) Me and my readers really seemed to enjoy the extra energy that posting more often brought, so I thought, hmmm, how can I encourage them to earn more bonus posts?

Instead of going on a fund-raising campaign, I decided instead to give them "points" for not only every dollar donated, but for blogging about the site, tweeting or facebooking the links to DGC, and other efforts to pull in new readers. Read more... )
