I posted this to my LJ for some feedback regarding my web-based comic The Glass Veil, which is still in its earliest, beginning stages, and I thought I'd cross-post it here.

I've been looking around the net at some other web-based comics for ideas on implementation, pacing, etc., and I've noticed several updating with a panel or two at a time, rather than an entire page with five or six panels. This would be far easier to do, especially when I go back to working my day job full time (I've been on an annual vacation this month), enabling far more frequent updates.

I'm also considering subscriptions vs. donation-based support and reward. There could be a number of pages available for free, and then the remainder set up as subscription-based, or the entire archive could be free, but supporters can be eligible for certain perks (such as contests, drawings, desktop backgrounds, etc).

Some thoughts for supporter rewards:

1) Art and writing contests revolving around the characters and/or universe. Possible prizes could include signed prints or other merchandise (tee-shirts, mouse pads, etc).

2) Free desktop backgrounds.

3) Discount on merchandise through Zazzle or Cafe Press.

4) Eligibility for a periodic drawing for prizes.

Any other thoughts?
